Don't know the author or the title...help!

Used to read novels by an author whose initials were H C (I think)

They were based in British law courts and set in the 1960's at the latest, may have been earlier than that

They were very dry, very funny and dealt with the clever ways solicitors and criminals twist the law

They were written by a barrister or solicitor

Anyone any ideas?

I reckon you mean Henry Cecil (not the racehorse trainer) - I was a fan too. Actually, might reread a few now you've reminded me.
