Am posting because Ive just read that we're posting books tomorrow, and I dont think I ll finish. Thing is, Im a really quick reader and I just cant get into this book. Ive never read Grisham before, and I wouldnt go for it again. Im finding it really boring - theres not much action, build up or suspense and I havent bonded with the main characters, which I hate, as I like to fall in love with the people and miss them when th ebooks finished.

Im sorry this is so negative - Im usually easily pleased. Hopefully, everyone else will enjoy it more.

sorry you didn’t like it dewmeadow, a couple people i know who have read it said they loved it, Though it didn’t seem that interesting to me. i thought that maybe some one here might like it.

FlameBoo · 07/06/2006 09:58

I was a bit like that with it DM (got it as a secret book thing from the library a couple of years ago) - I got into it in the end, but couldn't tell you even the teeniest bit about the characters now.

dewmeadow · 07/06/2006 09:59

FlameBoo · 07/06/2006 10:18

Not sure I'd say "exciting". I do tend to read anything in sight though, and its rare for me to absolutely hate anything.

dewmeadow · 07/06/2006 11:09

no, send me the next one Bresha.

Im normally dlike that too Flame. Only a few exceptions - War and Peace at Uni, and Shirley by a Bronte (Emily?) absolute pants

Well, I thought this book was great. It was a bit predictable and reminded me of 'the firm'. Man starts off poor, gets rich and then loses it all again through greed. But I really enjoyed it and didn't put it down. I have read most of Grishams books and not enjoyed all of them but this one was very good although I guessed what was going to happen. I really wanted Rebecca to try to crawl back to him when he became the 'king of Torts' and she didn't so I ended up liking her much more towards the end.

bump

Wasn't hugely keen on this one.

The ending was a disappointment and to be honest the whole thing was far too predictable.

I'm not keen to read another Grisham. Still it was an easy read whilst I'm doing my assignments. Wouldn't read it again and will have forgotten all about it in a short while.

I loved this book and I could not put it down. Finished it in 3 days - I just left the 2yo DTS to entertain themselves for long periods.

I think his best is his first - A Time to Kill and the other one I liked was The Street Lawyer - also good
