OK, finished mine!

So... this si the review thread for the book.
Obviously.

Took this book away on holiday, and was certainly the ideal book for that. Took a while to get into- the lead character isn't what you'd call likeable (to me anyway) but you do get absorbed. The ending isn't what you'd predeict in the beginning, either; neither indeed is the main subject matter.

Enjoyed it, quite a light read (as the sender said) but that's not a bad thing when you're on whitsun holiday.

How do we stop ourselves from reading the threads about the books we haven't read yet? :)

PanicPants · 01/06/2006 12:11

Oh I guess this will be my next book then. Looking forward to it.

Franny - you're right, we must make sure we don't give any endings away in our reviews!

peachyClair · 01/06/2006 16:00

yes- I was careful about that LOL!

Right, I've finished this one now. I know what you mean Peachy about the main character not being at all likeable. Completely selfish and self absorbed.
But it was a quick, easy read and in a way it was refreshing not to actually like the main character at all. She was probably more true to life than your avarage 'perfect' heroine.

bresha · 12/07/2006 18:22

I didn?t enjoy this book very much, I hated the main character, she was completely self obsessed.
I cant really explain it with out giving anything away, I found that her secret past upset me and I nearly gave up reading the book but I finished it just to see if Kate and Ian got there baby.

dewmeadow · 31/07/2006 21:30

I am cheating. I am finding this book hard going, as I also cannot stand the main character. I dont like that at all - I like to bond with people in teh book, but, like you Bresha, I want to see if Kate and Ian get their baby, adn have committed the ultimate sin of skipping to the back and looking. Sorry sorry sorry!

This book was easy to read but had me reading it til the bitter end. I would never have picked up a book to read which had a classical musician in it for some reason, I thought they were all boring, but Evie was very modern and not boring but I didn't like her much. Thought the plot between guy & the US fertility doctor a bit thin as well. Wasn't the best book I have read, but certainly not the worst.

It was a fairly long time ago but I think I quite enjoyed this book. I'll admit I cheated a bit and read these reviews before the book so it probably helped that I went into it know ing I would hate the lead character. TBH I've forgotten the ending already, but I konw it was a quick and easy read which kept me entertained for a week or so!
