I've just been doing a bit of leisurely amazon research and come across Sarah Dunant. Has anybody read anything by her? I'm thinking of downloading her latest book - but maybe I should start somewhere else (or not!)
Thanks!

I absolutely loved The Birth of Venus. Read it a few times.

I started but gave up on Sacred Hearts. Can't remember why.

Haven't read any others.

Read one if hers for a book club a few years ago - iirc it was about a woman who travelled in South America and ended up involved in drugs BUT I can't remember the title or any detail.

Was enjoyable enough but didn't make me want to read more.

Agree with BunnyLebowski

Loved The Birth of Venus but not quite so bowled over by Sacred Hearts. Also really enjoyed In the Company of the Courtesan which really takes the reader back to Venice of the 16th century. Currently have Blood and Beauty to read.

I've read Birth of Venus, Sacred Hearts and Company of the Courtesan, which is definitely my favourite. Looking forward to reading the new one when it isn't quite so dear on kindle - she wrote an interesting article in the Guardian review section a few weeks ago about how syphilis changed the Renaissance world.

I've not read any of her modern ones though.

Read and loved all the historical ones in including blood and beauty which takes a bit of getting into. I liked sacred hearts but company of courtesan probably my favourite.

I loved Birth of Venus as well. The author explores relationships in that period very well and includes fascinating historical detail. I really enjoyed Sacred Hearts - her research was excellent and I liked the details of the medicinal and healing processes. The characters in Birth of Venus tore at my heartstrings though!
