If I read another crime book where I am patronisingly told how detectives need to use dark humour to get through their days I will start to eat paperbacks. The assumption is that I am hugely shocked when they make "inappropriate" jokes and need this explaining to me. Well no I don't, because pretty much every crime book since the dawn of time has already done it. So thanks.
