Loved The Magpies. What should I read next?

Just finished The Magpies and loved it. Also absolutely loved Into The Darkest Corner (although her other books, not so much). I still want a psychological thriller/suspense but am fed up with serial killer/police procedurals. I've read too many of them.

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

The Strain trilogy, by Guillermo del Toro is pretty damn awesome. It's more towards horror but it's a.m.a.z.i.n.g. It's got vampires in it, but (and I can't stress this enough) they're like zombie/vampires. They're NOT like Anne Ricey/Interview With A Vampire vamps, and definitely not like in Twilight thank god. It's about a virus that breaks out :)

OP I loved "gone girl" by Gillian Flynn and also "only the innocent" by Rachel abbot.
They might be worth a try?

Also have you read "before i go to sleep" that's a physiological thriller but not with too much police involvement.

You might enjoy The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood, The GUilty One by Lisa Ballantyne or Cuckoo by Julia Crouch (am suggesting these because I also enjoyed Magpies and I enjoyed these recently too )

I second Gone Girl (God, that book is phenomenal, I loved it), also Flynn's second novel Dark Places, Cuckoo, Before I Go to Sleep.

Try A Kind of Intimacy by Jenn Ashworth. Notes From a Scandal by Zoe Heller which isn't exactly a psychological thriller but is a wonderful study in creepy relationships.

A Kind of Intimacy by Jenn Ashworth has tones of The Magpies about it. I read it and loved it and have re-read it a few times now, so I second the recommendation of it from Domestic

I'm reading Killing Cupid by Mark Edwards and Louise Voss. Mark Edwards is the author of The Magpies and the story is about a woman who is being stalked by a student in a class she teaches. It's not quite as well written as The Magpies, and I've picked up a couple of mistakes that editing should have caught, but it's still quite good so far.

Can't Let Go by Jane Hill is also very good. It's about a woman who has been hiding a secret for decades and then one day receives an anonymous note from someone claiming to know what she had done and stating they are watching her every move. Suddenly she can't trust anybody and realises she has to find her stalker before they find her.

Domestic also recommended Notes on a Scandal, which is another one I loved. And to add to that I will recommend Alys, Always by Harriet Lane, which is a little bit similar, a stranger inserts herself into a family.

Ooh, yes, Alys, Always is good although it wasn't really dark enough for my tastes. Well written though.

Second Sarah's recommendation of Killing Cupid - it's a fun read.

Elizabeth Haynes' third book, Human Remains, is good. Disgusting, but good :)
