Book club suggestion

So it's my turn to pick a book for my book club. I read chick-lit and the others are much more high brow, although they enjoyed The Help which I picked last year.

Does anyone have any decent books, in the line of chick-lit, but better written to suggest?

TIA

How about - The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, The Innocents by Francesca Segal, The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey, Rules of Civility by Amor Towles? Just a few ideas for you :)

Marian Keyes?
She's got a new one which deals with depression and her older books all have a serious theme as well. Better written than chick lit IMHO.
Carol Shields?
The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan.. not chicklitty at all but a good book club read maybe?

If you enjoyed The Help, I think you'd also like The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. Well-written but not a heavy read, and with some similarities in theme. I really enjoyed it.

I made them read Maeve Binchy, some weren't even polite.

Will look at ideas thanks.

You might like some Isabel Allende?
Can't thumb their nose at her.. I don't think anyway.
Good luck!
