Help choosing a book

Hi I can't decide on a new book. I've always read funny female fiction (marianne Keyes is my all time favourite) but have just managed to plough through the fifty shades trilogy and although didn't really enjoy the writing, sex, naivety, characters (not sure what I did like) I did quite enjoy the sub plot. This has made me think I would like a book similar to this sub plot but don't know where to start or even what category this would be.
I did read Seven a few years ago and read it in a weekend so must have enjoyed it (didn't like the film as much though). But don't really like horror or self-help books.
Please help, I'm fed up of buying books and never finishing them.

We have enjoyed Carole Matthews books, her latest here:

Jenny Colgan: her latest here set in Paris + chocolate + romance + a slighter sadder side tripfiction.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/Chocolate-fiction-set-in-Paris.html

Kate Kerrigan: her third one is due out later this year, but these first two in the trilogy are a very good read, and you find out so much about the folks travelling from Ireland to NYC. tripfiction.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/Novels-set-in-New-York.html

Hope these help!
