The Snow Child - spoilers

I've just finished this and really enjoyed it, but I thought it was a bit too long and dragged a bit which spoilt the ending as I was just wanting to finish it.

At the end do you think she lived and just went to be free in the forest and that's why they were all happy at the end when it was snowing as she would come back?

I liked to think she went back as she couldn't stand the confines of life and they hoped she would return, I enjoyed it but it did leave a few questions unanswered.

I agree with Cezzy, but a part of me thinks she is just 'winter' and will always be there, no getting older or dying, but always where the snow is.
