Can someone help with a Dorothy Koomson question?

I've just read The Rose Petal Beach by Dorothy Koomson. This won't be a spoiler if you haven't read it.

There's a character in it, Wade, who I think might have been Nova's partner in Goodnight, Beautiful. I lent out my copy last year, still don't have it back and am unlikely to see it in the near future.

Can anyone put me out of my misery? Was Nova's partner Wade, a policeman? it's nagging at me!
