Anyone read Susan Hill's "Dolly"? Just finished it. What on earth did poor Edward do to deserve such dreadful retribution?

Yes I've just read it and felt the same! But in The Woman In Black she has another man who is a bit of a wuss and yet entirely blameless but who is punished in the end too, so maybe that's her thing?

Think that must be it! Also a bit strange the way even before Leonora's tantrum, Edward is hearing strange things....
