AM Holmes - May We be Forgiven

I really enjoyed 'This Book Will Change Your Life' so when I saw AM Holmes' new one in Waterstones last week I bought it and then read the reviews online.
Most mention some kind of horrible incident or crime that is committed by one of the brothers but I'd like to know how horrible before I begin!
I had PND and anxiety after DS1, who's now 3, and had to be really careful with things I watch on tv or read, am fine now (mostly!) but still like to be a bit careful otherwise I dwell on things far much.
So anyone want to spoil it a little for me at my request?!

Just finished this book. If you've read A M Homes before, you'll know her style is quite spare in terms of stylistics and quite over-the-top in terms of plot. I wouldn't say you'd be especially traumatised by this particular book; lots of horrific things happen in it but they're not really described, just glossed over, in almost comic, surreal style - although the impact on the remaining characters is, of course, studied. There's a lot more sex with strangers than there is focus on horrible crimes!!

Sorry, that's probably not very clear. I like her stuff and this is a good example of it. Bonkers and completely unbelievable but with some fine set pieces, interesting characters (the children are quite well 'drawn' - some of the older characters less so) and some interesting musings on modern life and the connections between people.

HTH

Oh, can do more of an actual spoiler (plot wise) if you'd like. Basically, the two 'incidents' are in the first 50 pages of the book and in most of the reviews so not really spoilers anyway.

Thanks Books, that helps, think I'll get stuck in tonight then!
