Ken Follett?

I've just finished the two of the century trilogy that have been released and loved them. Unfortunately the third isn't out until 2014 so I have to find other books to read until then!

Are any other Ken Folletts even close to the century trilogy? I was hooked on these and it's been a while since that's happened.

Pillars of the Earth is a good read (and it has a sequel which is also good - but the name escapes me atm) - it's set in medieval times and centres round the building of a cathedral, even if you are not a particular fan of older historical fiction, you will probably still enjoy it - it's a good story with interesting characters.

If you wanted to try another author you might like the Cazalet Chronicles by Elizabeth Jane Howard, or possibly something by R F Delderfield who also wrote some good trilogies set in the past (although I haven't read them for years, so they might come over a bit dated now)

The Pillars of the Earth is a great but hefty read, the second one is World without End. I can also recommend his book Jackdaws, slightly different - about a group of female spies parachuted into occupied France.

If you liked those, you would probably like Sarum, which is another long saga book about Salisbury and the building of the cathedral. By Edward Rutherford.
