Running out of time for an idea I've had for a wedding present. I recall doing it before but can't for life of me remember which book it came from and google doesn't seem to help me today and the thought of trying to dig out books that I might not even still have is making me flustered!

Has anyone read her books and do you remember a passage about her husband giving her a blank notepad and them then writing a message to each other in it every year of marriage ? I think it's a beautiful idea and as I say recall doing it for friends years ago.

Thanks in advance of someone having this knowledge to hand!

Love all these books, so beautifull, I even have a signed copy of one of them I won on LBC Radio!

I seem to think it was Lucia Lucia? but not 100%....

I just googled and she has a new book, The Shoemakers Wife, must get it ASAP!

ahh you could be right.... umm, though something makes me think that was later - infact actually all I need to do was check when it was published as that would give me the clue because couple I did if for got married at least 5 years ago.
I know, how funny I also saw the new book at the same time and thought ah christmas pressie for sis (and me!)
thanks for replying.

It was in one of the trilogy ones, Big Stone Gap?

Is it this quote?
'This tradition of writing to each other every year has served us well; we look in it and see each other's thoughts as our marriage has grown, and there is always something we have written in the past that help us in the here and now.'
That's from Chapter 9 of Milk Glass Moon. There might be a quote in the earlier book where they start it though. If it's not this quote I can look for you tomorrow as have all the books in the series.

Ah thanks ladies.
Nothroad - umm, I think that could be another reference to it.. am sure that the one I had in mind, I got my sister to have a look and memory seems to be that it was one of the trilogy ones like Big Stone Gap, but she couldn't find it.
In the end I muddled something together and added it the pressie itself which was a box of Christmas tree decorations along with a sentiment that someone had given me about buying a gift for the tree for each other and writing a note about where they came from.
Result was a resounding success and I've already had a beautiful message from the bride saying it was most thoughtful gift ever!
Thanks again.
