Just that really - love the whole travelling on a ship to a new country and a new start, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations of books with a journey like that - or early years of the United States would be good too. Thanks.

You might not want to read The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan :o but it is good.

Dancing Backwards by Sally Vickers

Chess by Stefan Zweig "Great book for fans of historic novels and subtle psycho stories, ship cruisers, and chess players"

A Stone's Throw by Fiona Shaw - A multi-layered story of three generations of one family, set in England and Kenya during and after the Second World War.

USA Historical:
A Breath of Snow and Ashes, by Diana Galbadon 1770s
Metropolis by Elizabeth Gaffney 1860s NYC

Hope they help!
