I've almost finished this book and cannot decide if it was good or rubbish? The story is ok and i do like these kind of crime thrillers. It just didn't grab me. Taken me ages to read. Then towards end i couldn't put it down but then got bored again. Just had the big reveal of who the murderer is and i couldn't care less really. Havn't bothered to finish it yet. Thing is i should like it. It's my kinda book. Hmmm dunno what i think. Anyone else any thoughts?

I quite liked it, but I think I know what you mean, the victim was a bit of a non-entity. I've just read the second one 'The Preacher' and found that a lot better.

Oh will not write her off just yet then. The book store lady sold me it on the premise that it was like girl with the D T though and it's nowhere near as good. Maybe i built my hopes up a bit.

It was quite good, but definitely lighter than Dragon Tattoo, a bit naughty of book store lady to claim it was similar!

I've read all of hers. I really like them. I think they improve as you get to know Erica and Patrick better.

I bought it in the Kindle sale last summer and read it on holiday. Should have liked it, love tv programmes and books like Wallander and the Bridge but was really glad that I hadn't paid full price for it and haven't bothered to read any of the sequels in the following 15 months. Mind you I might give the preacher a call now that the local library service are offering free ebooks Smile.

I liked all the books up to the Drowning, which I read the sample of but didn't buy. There's too much domestic description and not enough thriller for my taste now, and that town now rivals fictional Oxford for its body count.

I bought the first two in one volume in the Kindle summer sale just after I bought my Kindle. They're ok and I will read more at some point, but I do wish Lackberg would stop telling us about Erica's concerns about her weight.

Have you tried Jo Nesbo? Scandicrime but a bit more gritty with a deeply flawed main character? I will also recommend The Darkest Room by Johan Theorin, a really bleak Swedish ghost/thriller.
