I have just finished The Chaperone by Laura Moriarty, and loved it so wanted to share. The story is part fact and part fiction, the fact bit is concerning the silent movie star Louise Brooks and all the info on her is factual, then the fiction part is about Cora who volunteers to chaperone the 15 year old wild child Louise to New York. i finished it and then googled Louise Brooks as she was such a fascinating character and her life is wilder than any fiction.

I read it a few weeks ago, on holiday. I loved it too. Louise Brooks wrote her own book about her time in Hollywood (it was mentioned briefly in The Chaperone) and I'd like to read that too. She was certainly a fascinating character and lived life to the full.

Yes I fancy that book as well, Lulu in Hollywood, can imagine it will be a real insight into that era- fascinating
