Off on a 7 day lone 'sort my life out' break - can you recommend any life changing reading material?

Thanks! Smile

Or the present

I really liked Po Bronson's "What Should I do with my life?"

If you look at the website, you can read some sample chapters and see if it appeals to you. It seems he also has a book about relationships, which I haven't read but might be worth a look. here

Cherrypi · 30/07/2012 13:08

I second Po Bronson's book.

Wearsuncream · 01/08/2012 23:19

Fraction of the Whole by Steve Toltz - fiction and not self helpy but a cracking read that's funny and makes you think.
Good luck

Eat Pray Love

Stokey · 04/08/2012 17:48

Just read The Antidote by Oliver Buerkman ( thank you MN book giveaway). It's a great read about how to live without invoking the usual self-help book cliches.

DillyTante · 04/08/2012 17:53

Ooh good thread.

Try Coach yourself. V practical book.

If you are one of life's "flitters", struggling to stick to one thing this is just the ticket.

DillyTante · 04/08/2012 17:54

Oh and any of Richard Wiseman's 59 seconds books, or Oliver Burkeman's Help.

NellVarnish · 04/08/2012 17:59

Oh I need one of those, can I come too? Wink

Read What The Psychic Told The Pilgrim a while ago which was a bit of an adventure although the woman was a bit annoying. Eat Pray Love was good too. Can also recommend The Happiness Project and also Tuk Tuk To The Road.

I've got the wanderlust now. Envy

DillyTante · 04/08/2012 18:20

Oh yes to Happiness Project too.

DillyTante · 04/08/2012 18:21

Is Eat Pray Love actually any good?

NellVarnish · 04/08/2012 20:40

Well she maybe it's me Grin annoyed me a bit too Dilly, in Eat Pray Love but that said I did like the book. Keep meaning to read the next one, Committed I think?

There's a sequel to The Happiness Project too, have you seen it?

The Five People You Meet In Heaven.
It's not a self help book but it does put it all into perspective.

awaynboilyurheid · 09/08/2012 20:10

I agree Nellvarnish, eat pray love started ok ish but then she was so totally self obsessed that I had to stop reading it at bedtime as she was annoying me so much could have cheerfully slapped her really liked 5 people you meet in heaven but it wasn't life changing just a lovely read

caffinequeen · 17/08/2012 21:12

Another recommendation for The Five People you Meet in Heaven, or Tuesdays with Morrie. Also The To Do List - Mike Gayle, it's a good motivator to get stuff done!
