Hi all

Can any of you guys recommend a good book for me to read? I cannot think of anything to read. I usually read historical fiction books mostly based in the Tudor era or biographies but also like just a book i can relax and read without thinking too much about it. Any ideas? Thanks!

have you read "Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon or "Winter in Madrid" by C.J. Sansom?

Rules of Civility by Amor Towles
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
My Dear I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen

All recent reads for me, and all enjoyed.

Was going to suggest Rules of Civility too. It is historical but not tudor and very good. Enjoyed Me Before You too, but cried buckets .

Also enjoyed Tiger Hills which is again historical fiction but not tudor.

Here be Dragons by Sharon Penman.

Finished biography of Anaïs Nin a while ago, by Deirdre Bair- long but very worth it...

Have you read CJ Sansom?

The Rose Garden is good and I'm reading I Capture The Castle at the moment.

My favourite reads of this year have been:
The Thread by Victoria Hislop
My Dear, I Wanted to Tell You by Louisa Young

Have you read Karen Maitland's books? And also Sarah Dunnant's novels about European history are around early Tudor. I really enjoyed Sacred Hearts

Historical fiction? I've just posted about a mad book called the illuminati kid can save you - it blows history out of the water. It could be total fiction, but it's very convincing - the history as we know it is complete fabricated rubbish, apparently. It is a dirty and dark read, but gets you thinking, especially about history . . .
