Argh! It's shit, I know it's shit! The way she has to include "street lingo" on every sodding page...... The way her female leads always seem to have "huge breasts like overripe melons" but are sexually dysfunctional.... The way anyone from London calls their Mum, "Muvver...."

But they are so easy to read.... :(

Please help me find something that won't make me so angry! I really love Harlan Coben but not sure of the direction he's heading WRT these teen-aimed novels. Also love Richard Montanari but not sure if he's brought out anything recently? Jane Casey, Nicci French, Lee Weeks....

Anything similar to these would be much appreciated. Every time I look at my bookshelf I have to see "Martina Cole - The Woman who tells it like it really is" gazing back at me......

DSis and I are literary snobs - she did English at university and I did French. But our shared secret vice is Lee Child.

When she told me to try his thrillers I was , but I do enjoy his books when a bit of escapism is called for, as does DH, who is a pleb.

Have had many a fantasy about his hero, Jack Reacher, who's been called 'the thinking girl's beefcake'. Another reviewer said he's 'admired by his male readers and lusted after by his female ones.' Dead right!

Lee Child himself is craggily handsome - I'd give him one, but don't tell DH. (Actually you can - I've already told him myself!)
