It's called "The Earth Hums in B Flat" and it was really good Grin and only a pound!
By Marisa (I think) Strachan - it's about a young girl growing up in a little village in Wales, and all the family secrets. It sounds a bit drab but the way it's written is really good - the plot has loads of little clues and drops hints, and you get loads of "Ooo" and "AHA!" moments, and then something else turns out to be true. I really enjoyed it anyway. It reminded me a bit of "A Boy's Life" somehow but it's nowhere near as big, and there's no supernatural element, just the girl's imagination.

coming up as £4.49 for me sadly

does sound good though, will keep an eye on it in case the price fluctuates.

Aww I only bought it yesterday! It's like playing the stockmarket watching those prices for Kindle books on Amazon!

You get a different book each day under the Kindle Daily Deal priced usually at 99p. I bought The Earth Hums in B Flat too, PomBear :)

Just occasionally you get a gem like that at a bargain price, but a lot of the time it's stuff that doesn't appeal to me, thankfully, otherwise my kindle would be full and my bank account empty :o

Apologies if this is common knowledge, but there are plenty of places you can go for free Kindle books. Not brand new stuff, of course, but generally out-of-copyright novels are freely available if you know where to go.

www.gutenberg.org is a good place to start. You need to have a rough idea of what you're after but, for example, Charles Dickens / Wilkie Collins / etc etc all free to download.

I'm falling in love with Great Expectations all over again :)

ooh yes I bough this on the daily deal for 99p...thought it looked worth a try at that price! It is now on my waiting to read list!!
