I fancy reading something a bit racy, for a complete change from the quite depressing books I have recently read. Any ideas?

Are you talking novels, as in stories, or just some harmless fantasies?

If the former, I couldn't class it as 'racy', but if you want some really lighthearted stuff then the Janet Evanovich series 'one for the money' etc etc is very good fun.

Other than that I haven't seen any good rollicking 'fun' books for yonks (and haven't seen 'racy' since Jilly Cooper), so would be interested in what other MNers recommend...everything seems to be grim or dim these days, with nothing but chick-lit & 'how I survived my childhood with my mum poking my eyes out with pins for the hell of it' books.

If all you wanted was racy but without the story bit then 'My Secret Garden' always works for me

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. Or indeed, any of her books. Pretty racy, but also very good writing.

Just read The Vesuvius Club by Mark Gatiss (off the League of Gentlemen!) It's a very funny Edwardian dandy spy mystery, the hero shags anything but always with style and panache and without creasing his tailcoat .

Thanks I will look out for some of these. Fed up with depressive reading.
