Hi all you knowledgeable people. My first posting in books :). I have just finished reading the shades book. I know I know lots of you peps don't like them. I have heard they are similar to the twilight books. Would anyone recommend them? I don't know what to read after Christian. My life is empty lol. Thanks

I liked the Twilight books, they're not brilliantly written but they're an easy, enjoyable read.

I've only read the first one the whole way through. It was ok for a poolside/holiday read.

I then tried the second, but found it boring and gave up, plus I was advised by a few people who'd read the entire series that - well - nothing happens...

It's not that they're similar to Twilight it's more that James completely ripped off the characters.

Twilight is basically girl falls in love with boy, boy is actually a 108ish yr old vampire, boy wants to kill her, boy then falls in love, boy will then do anything to keep her safe - lots of teenage angst basically with other vampires that try to kill her over the 4 books.

It is also worth bearing in mind that sex in Twilight only occurs in book 4 after they have been married and it only gets a passing mention really, there is absolutely no spanking, red room of pain, orgasms from mere look alone or inner goddess. There is plenty of eye-rolling, lip biting and nose pinching.

Enjoy :)

If you liked 50 shades you should google twilight fan fiction and read something like ' The Submissive' and 'The Dominant', or the amazing 'Wide Awake'.
Much darker and better written.

I would suggest you try 'Twilight', it does just consume some people for some reason. It explains where the idea for the obsessive love between Christian (Edward) and Ana (Bella) originated.

Just enjoy it as a guilty pleasure, it's your choice!

Black dagger brotherhood books are good. I loved twilight and fifty shades and these are vampires books but kick ass vampires and there's 10 books so will take a while to get through them.
