I am after some good fiction stories to read - I an due in one week and stuck what to buy !

For while you're waiting? Do they need to be topical? There's a good current thread with everyone's favourite books of the year. You could look at that for inspiration. Otherwise just look at the Waterstones chart for what's selling.
