Reading in bed - sue gee

Started reading this and am a thir of the way through it and it just seems do drone on nothing exciting at all happening. Really struggling with this book. If nothing has happened a third of the way into the book should i bother to see it through to the end? Got "room" to read next hoping thats a better read

I haven't read it, but I'd say give up and read Room instead :) Life's too short to read books you don't enjoy. You might want to come back to it at a later date.

I really enjoyed that book but can't remember one thing about the plot. I loved Room. Skip to that.

Got to say that I love Sue Gee's writing and am really surprised that she isn't better known. I found this book really moving, but as others have said, it's not for everyone, and if you don't like a book, life is mostly too short to persevere.

Reviews look good for hours of the night

Sue Gee, when on form, is one of my favourite writers but this is far from her best book. Her earlier books were unremarkable and this latest one unfortunately belongs with them.

However, Earth and Heaven, The Mysteries of Glass, The Hours of the Night and Thin Air (I've put them in personal order of preference) are all well worth reading.

Will haveto look them up. If there was a story or a point to get to then it would help. As i say almost a third through a book and nothing. Im usedto a few chapters trudging through before it picks up but never this much so i have given up sadly
