I made the mistake of watching the film first! Argh! Midway through Catching Fire and loving it.

I've just finished them as well, couldn't put them down. Not sure what to read next now!

NoraHelmer · 16/05/2012 19:54

I've read the first two, Mockingjay's yet to be read. I've really enjoyed them so far, but think that The Hunger Games was better than Catching Fire.

They were very readable. Better than Harry Potter, not as good as His Dark Materials, in that category of books in my head's filing system.

Pozzled - I'm about to put a separate post about this, but try The Last Days (Kindle only though I think but think it's free) about a group of lambs and how they escape from their field. Different genre from THGs but best I've read this year. Have the hankies ready though!

I am waiting for my 14 year old friend to finish the last one so I can borrow it! I think they are fab. (didn't rate Harry Potter books but do love Dark Materials)

Have been drawing a few comparisons between HG and The Tripods Trilogy by John Christopher - one of my most favourite teenage reads revisited regularly. Anyone else ?

I liked the storyline but for some reason the romantic triangle didn't grip me. The characters didn't get under my skin really. Still a good read though.

robotcornysilk · 20/05/2012 19:01

I also thought books 2 and 3 were dire. Especially 3.

Jux · 20/05/2012 19:08

Read the first one - dd borrowed it from someone at school. It was OK I thought, but made a better film. I thought the writing was dire, but I thought they were for kids so didn't judge too harshly. Are they really adult fiction?
