Foreign Bodies was one that appealed to me. I'm kicking myself because over Easter it was in the Kindle Spring Sale at 99p, but not any more :(, so will have to look in the library.

I've bought Song of Achilles on my kindle (it was going for a rather reasonable price!), and I've ordered State of Wonder at the library (so goodness knows how long it'll take to get to me!!). They were the only two that appealed to me really Smile. My TBR pile is huge though! I think I'm beginning to disprove the 'you can never have too many books' rule Sad
But I still think you can never have too many books Grin

I've just finished Foreign Bodies and have the Achilles one waiting. I'm sorry Gillespie & I didn't make it on to the short list from the long.

I am still digesting Foreign Bodies. It has a group of what I thought were very unlikeable characters and at first I found it rather hard going but then it got its hooks in to me and by the end I was left with quite a lot to mull over. Looking forward to the Achilles one - nothing like a Mary Renault-esque homoerotic romp Grin

I love Ann Patchett - Bel Canto and Run are great, so I think State of Wonder would be worth a read.

Thanks for the link to the synopses peaky :)

I've got two on the go: Painter of Silence (Harding) and The Song of Achilles (Miller). Both very much up my street, the first is like the English Patient and the second is like Greek Myths, and those two things are up there in my pantheon of all-time favourite literature. So have high hopes...

Has anyone else read those two yet?

We're hoping to ask the eventual winner to come onto Bookclub for a chat, will keep you posted.
