thought Rules of Civility was amazing. Loved the characters Katie, Tinker and Eve and thought the book was so evocative. Really enjoyed The Best of Everything too. Quite fancy trying a novel set in New York but from another decade (the above books were 30's and 50's). Any ideas anyone?

How about The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld or Ellis Island by Kate Kerrigan (I believe there's now a sequel to this one, but can't recall the title).

Read interpretation of murder - loved it. And gatsby too. Will try the other suggestions, thanks :)
