Anyone recommend one? He's not really into fiction, but likes travel/adventure. Recently he's read Stalingrad by Antony Beevor and Mission Mongolia -- Two Men, One Van, No Turning Back by David Treanor which he really liked cos it made him laugh. Any thoughts?

The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson. I'm about 1/3 of the way through. It's very entertaining and well written.

A Funny Thing Happened On My Way To The Club by Ludovic Kennedy who also wrote Ten Rillington Place.

Another one is Agent Zigzag, which has been recommended on another thread.

Bill Bryson books?

My DH likes things like Freakonomics etc

He might like Carl Hiaasen, who writes very funny books, usually involving botched crimes, with some brilliant characters, some of whom appear in several books. They are set in Florida, and he's quite biting on the destruction being done to the land there by the likes of Disney, golf organisations etc, but it's not preachy, and the books are hilarious.

Its fiction but the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child are fantastic, fast-paced and exciting. He's an ex-special forces officer and a bit of a loose canon. Great reads

Thanks -- some really interesting suggestions there. I think Agent Zigzag ticks all boxes!

Check out Conn Iggulden. He's written 2 fantastic historical series about Julius Caesar and Genghis Khan. Utterly brilliant!

Bloke here btw :)

With Father's Day coming up, can I add one more to the list - I Was a Potato Oligarch by John Mole. Funny book about doing business in the new Russia.
