Just started this in our book club. Without giving too much away have you enjoyed it? Seems lots of characters which I am finding confusing. Thanks.

ooh, I read it a while back and enjoyed it (but then I tend to like Spain-based stuff anyway).

Stick with it - iirc it does get less confusing :)

Yes, took a while to get into, or feel much for the characters at first, but well worth sticking with it.

Thanks............will have to jot down the characters though as I am getting confused, enjoying it!

Loved it. Get the tissues ready though

We did it for bookclub, all the others loved it. I read half of it and gave up, it just did not grab me, I found the characters too 'wooden'. Though I also think I could not face reading the bombing bit as in early pregnancy and too hormonal Blush

I thought it was rubbish. Didn't finish it.

It is one of only 3 books I have given up on!

I loved it, we read it for our book club and was one of the few that everyone loved.

Hi There,

I have read it, and I loved it, and although I have been living in the UK for many years I am basque, my town 30 miles from Guernica, and I was so glad someone wrote about it in another country so people would know what happened.

It is extremely sad though but it is exatcly what happened, had me crying a lot, and it explains the culture and the people really well, I begged my partner to read it so he could learn a bit more from us.

I do hope you like it and I'd love to hear (read) what you think.
