has anyone else read this? I've seen it so often on 'Best of..' lists and finally got round to reading it. I thought it was a really good read and would just like to know what anyone else thought of it.

I've read it - but so long ago I don't feel qualified to saying anything except I really enjoyed it. I've also read a couple of her others but can't recall the titles. None of this contributes a single thing to the discussion but she's well worth reading!

Very enjoyable book by a great author. Try 'In A Summer Season' and 'The Devastating Boys', but I liked all of her books very much.

I've read this too! Really enjoyed it. I thought it was very skillful writing to make such a monstrous, unsympathetic character so compelling.

A View of the Harbour and The Wedding Party are also great - really nderrated author. I was glad to see so of her books back in print and even in my local library.
