I havent been sleeping well recently, a few things on my mind. I need something to read that i can read in a couple of days, get absorbed into but light and chicklit like. Im thinking along the lines of one day, hens dancing by rafaella barker, shopaholic (nothing more taxing)!

Ryans Return is good, am about 3/4 of the way through it.

LadyDamerel · 30/01/2012 21:34

Freya North or Jill Mansell are my comfort reads in times of stress.

Or A Georgette Heyer romance.

FayKnights · 30/01/2012 21:38

Any Adriana Trigiani's are good, very light-hearted. Also second Freya North. My comfort read is 'Rachel's Holiday' - Marian Keyes, although I don't like any of her other books or 'The Lollipop Shoes - Joanne Harris is another goodie.

I am reading 'Angels in the Snow' by Sarah Morgan on my Kindle ATM. It is an easy read and really quite good IMVHO.

DizzyCow63 · 30/01/2012 21:42

I would second Ryan's Return, I'm about a third of the way through and enjoying it, was free too!

I really liked Marion Keyes-The last chance saloon and I have read very recently and very quickly Mrs Frys diaries by Stephen Fry, a bit of silly nonsense that would keep you entertained over a couple of evenings and not taxing at all.

ILoveOnionRings · 31/01/2012 18:44

John Locke is very good, the books are short, there is humour, are like a detective story and they are only 79p each. I have read one in a night.

TheFoosa · 31/01/2012 19:15

I've just finished Me Before You here which ordinarily I would turn my nose up at, but I was sobbing at the end

JiltedJohnsJulie · 01/02/2012 08:33

A Winter's Tale is light, I read it over Christmas and enjoyed it.

Hope it's not too late and that you've been sleeping a little better.

PotteringAlong · 01/02/2012 08:45

I really like Freya north

'can you keep a secret' by Sophie kinsella (shopaholic woman) is v much in the same vein and very good

BabeRuthless · 01/02/2012 12:08

In times of strife I turn to Jennifer Weiner. Light, generally feel good and you can just plough through it

AfternoonNap · 01/02/2012 12:18

Twenties girl - Sophie Kinsella, surprisingly good and a good romp for late nights. Santa Montefiore - anything. About Last Night - Adele Parks.
Moving up a level - Kate Morton. Rachel Hore - the Glass Painter's daughter.
Enjoy

I know it's not "tonight" any more - but read this diary of Marie Antoinette as a child/young woman, written by a MNer :)
