Tesco have ten pounds off the Kindle at the moment. If I buy it from Tesco, how do I link it to my Amazon account please??

you just register it when you charge up/turn on.

you can register/deregistier/re-register kindles whenever you want to.

eg dh bought mine, so it arrived registered to his account. I deregistered and re-registered to my account.

I bought one for dss - same thing - arrived registered to my account, and he swaped t over.

I guess if not bought through amazon, you just do the initial registration when it arrives with you. (type in amazon account email and password, and bob's your uncle)

Gotcha.

So once I get it, it will enable me to register from the unit itself. Hadn't realised.

Marvellous, thank you.

One more question - do you have a cover and/or light for yours? Is a cover kind of essential really? TIA.

yes, you register fro the unit. mine is the older one, with the keyboard, but I am assuming that the one without a keyboard has some method of inputting data (probably using a scroll/cursor key to highlight an onscreen keyboard) as you will need to to set up wifi etc.

I do have a cover for mine - the Amazon leather cover with built in light. it is pricey, but lovely.

I think some kind of cover is worthwhile, to protect the screen (mine gets chucked in my bag a lot for when I am hanging about at school collection time, etc). whether you want one with a light depends on you - the screen is not backlit, but then as others have pointed out, when reading a normal book in bed you need some kind of lightsource, so the same source could be used to read your kindle by...

I've just got a v.cheap neoprene sleeve cover for my kindle, which I bought in Tesco at the same time as getting my kindle. I think it was about £5.00. It isn't pretty, and doesn't have a light but it does the job of protecting my kindle when I put it in my handbag.

A cover isn't essential at all, I used my Kindle for about 8 months before I was given a cover at Christmas. The cover came from folksy.com which describes itself as "modern british craft". Very pleased with it and everyone asks me where I go it from.

It doesn't have a light but me and DH sort of have an agreement, he doesn't moan about me reading with my bedside light on and I don't moan about him spending the rest of the night snoring down my ear! Smile.
