Watched the tv programme last night and cannot possibly wait until the next series to find out what happened. I believe they are following Conan Doyle novels rather than making up new Sherlock stories, so anyone have any idea the title of the book?

'The Final Problem'.

The story where he comes back is something like "the empty house" but it won't help you really, because in the books he doesn't actually fake his death deliberately, he just goes over the cliff, happens to survive, and goes into hiding. His body isn't found, so it's a very different scenario.

As dilys says, it won't help! They are using the stories as inspiration and have gone quite off piste now, so the books won't shed any light on how they did it I'm afraid.
