I got maybe 10 or so pages through it on my Kindle but it bored me & couldn't keep me interested. Does it get better? I expected to be really into it after seeing the advert for the film full of action

Yes it does get better. The beginning is really tedious, I'm afraid, all about the Wennerstrom stuff, but you do need to read that as the book returns to it towards the end. Stick with it, it gets really good. I'm looking forward to seeing the film.

lucysmam · 14/01/2012 14:23

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I started one I could get through in a couple of evenings after ploughing through that so will finish that off & re-visit it again.

Keep going!
Don't worry too much about the names for now
It gets so good you won't be able to put it down!

thenightsky · 14/01/2012 14:28

I nearly gave up, what with all the difficult to remember swedish names, many that seem very alike. Plus all the Wennerstrom stuff.

But it does get very edge-of-seat later on when the pace speeds up.

I'm onto the second book now and finding it a bit slow too, but will stick with it in the hope it is as good as the last.

Pancakeflipper · 14/01/2012 14:30

I started it the other week and felt you. But now past page 200 and gripped. It's all I want to do - go and read a few more chapters. Keep going. It's getting better and better.

AndiRee · 14/01/2012 14:32

I can only agree. The book is fabulous. The kids didn't like me reading it as I hated any interruptions - ooopps! What?? You need dinner/ juice / bed , really?? Just a few pages more.....................

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 14/01/2012 14:35

It takes ages to get going - I don't think things really started happening until half way through. It's quite good though.

peekabooby · 14/01/2012 14:36

Just finished it this morning, really enjoyed it but agree it only gets going mid way.

Pancakeflipper · 14/01/2012 14:37

Oh bugger... I felt LIKE you. Not I felt you.

That would be rude, I don't know you.

Bossybritches22 · 14/01/2012 14:39

I second all above comments, all the very similar names nearly drove me demented, but it soon has you gripped.

I found reading book 3 in the series, on a kindle a nightmare as I couldn't flip back & forth quite so easily to do a quick name check.

Andiree Grin I was the same with mine.....

" What ?? Hmm? WHAT??!! Angry

juneybean · 14/01/2012 20:26

Yes, keep going! I'm dreading starting book 2 though as my bosses (who incidentally bought me the trilogy) told me the second book isn't all that great but you need to read it for the third book.

LadyBeagleEyes · 15/01/2012 13:35

Just to echo what everybody else has said, keep going.

Stick with it! And don't start reading book two without having a copy of book three handy because I finished the second and had to wait until the next day to go out and buy book three and I really wanted to begin it straight away but couldn't!

gigglepin · 15/01/2012 13:43

Bored all the way through it tbh, mate raved about it.but just not my cuppa tea at all.

philmassive · 15/01/2012 13:46

I'm going to stick with it too then. I was a bit Hmm when I started it. Thanks for this post OP.

openyerlugholes · 15/01/2012 13:47

Absolutely keep going. I felt the same at the beginning but once I got into it I couldn't put it down! All three books are excellent. Really loved the characters.

lucysmam · 15/01/2012 14:05

Wow, so many saying keep going so I'm going to go back to it tonight....when there are no interruptions from small people Grin I hate reading when they're around, can't concentrate properly on what I'm doing

jodevizes · 15/01/2012 15:43

It does sometimes drag but well worth the read. I have read ( well listened on audio books) to all three books, they were fantastic.

seriouslytwisted · 16/01/2012 18:56

I hated it - the character of Lisbet is excellent, but the story - the stuff of nightmares.

Bossybritches22 · 16/01/2012 19:05

seriously yes you are right but strangley compelling too....couldn't put it down!

seriouslytwisted · 16/01/2012 19:34

Bossybritches22 - that scene in the middle with Creepface (you know the one), and the revelations near the end - sorry, not my kind of book. Haven't bothered to read the other two books, though apparently they aren't as bad.

Bossybritches22 · 16/01/2012 23:15

I don't enjoy that sort of thing either, seriously by choice but it all explained a lot about Lisbet and her attitudes and mistrust of people, especially men. I glossed over the worst of it, made me feel ill.

No, 2 & 3 aren't quite as bad although there is still a lot of violence.
