Hello all! I like the Greyjoy username Smile

Know what you mean about re-reading. I often have to have to refer to the wiki page for minor characters when I've forgotten the back-story.

Don't know about anyone else but it's decades since I've read a fantasy novel. DH reads nothing else but I've never really embraced the genre.

Which has reminded me of this spoof article Grin

WinterIsComing · 10/01/2012 14:43

Love that phrase. I might start trotting it out after unimaginable bullshit on AIBU benefit / DLA threads. GRRM does it in his books after all.

"Yes, and they get a free top-of-the-range Ferrari every two weeks!"

"It is known" Hmm

I tripped up the stairs because i was too engrossed in affc.

I don't do fantasy or anything similar normally either. I dislike myth and magic usually, yet got seems so realistic that i almost forget. Iyswim.

DaenerysTargaryen · 10/01/2012 15:54

i don't do fantasy either... unless you include the lion the witch and the wardobe when i was 7...

oh but i do like a bit of terry pratchett!

maybe i do like fantasy Confused

NooneLikesAGreyjoy · 10/01/2012 15:56

I dont like fantasy either. couldnt abide LOTR etc. but this seems almost real.

DaenerysTargaryen · 10/01/2012 16:07

oh LOTR was super boring, I almost felt I had to read it because of what it is though but yh, I agree, these do seem real.

NooneLikesAGreyjoy · 11/01/2012 20:21

evening fellow throners, how is everyone?

WinterIsComing · 11/01/2012 22:29

Hello!

I was mourning this thread today.

But Bridget Jones is on and I am thinking, "Hmm - Colin Firth as Stannis"

He is definitely buttoned-up enough but has something about him...

I don't really like Stannis but I forgive him for the line, "only Renly could vex me so with a piece of fruit" Grin

DaenerysTargaryen · 11/01/2012 23:06

evening :)

I'm starting at the beginning again before I read DWD, I'm going to understand it a lot more this time I think.

what channel is bridget on?

WinterIsComing · 11/01/2012 23:11

ITV2 plus 1

179 on Sky.

I am going to watch it with DD (11 going on 20) tomorrow and point out shite choices regarding men.

The Colin Firth / Hugh Grant "fight" scenes really remind me of Renly and Stannis!

OP posts:
ValarMorghulis · 12/01/2012 09:56

Morning.

I think firth is too "nice" for stannis.

I have no affection for stannis but cant see him as a baddy.
I think he is doing what he thinks is best. He seems to be a very loyal and just man. But very easily lead I fear.

I think the casting for the show was very very good. The only one I thought difficult to see as. The character in my head was jorah mormont. He was too smooth and good looking.

Is it very bad that I finally watched the final madterchef last night and I couldn't help thinking the girl in it just had to have been a targeryan.

OnlyANinja · 12/01/2012 10:17

It is known.

WinterIsComing · 12/01/2012 12:39

Yes, it is known. I often see Targaryens in town.

When I go to the shops I sometimes see a parked car with the reg Dav0s or something. I think it says Davos anyway Grin

Jorah is a bit smooth, isn't he?

DH and I were wondering where we might put Johnny Depp once but can't remember which character we decided on.

OP posts:
ValarMorghulis · 12/01/2012 13:15

No jorah should be a muscular hairy bear.

Hmm. Where to put Depp.now there's question worthy of pondering.

NooneLikesAGreyjoy · 14/01/2012 08:45

Oh yes, jorah needs to look a bit more animalistic. Although I do have a bit of a thing for the actor who plays him Wink

DaenerysTargaryen · 15/01/2012 21:22

If Johhny Depp were to be in GOT it would need to be a character that never dies. that is all.

NooneLikesAGreyjoy · 15/01/2012 22:31

Dany, Grin

HBO have confirmed season 2 for 1st april in the US

NooneLikesAGreyjoy · 15/01/2012 22:33
