I finished this last night and am missing it. Not really scary but so interesting and I just love how King writes.

It is amazing please read it or if you have come and tell me your thoughts on it.

I listened to it on Audible( no time to read, toddler chasing) and I loved it. I know what you mean about missing it, I could listen to it every day, loved all the detail and little insights into the past.

Oh I'm so glad you liked it. I want to give it to everyone and tell them to read it.

I fancied it & it was on my Xmas list but didn't get it :(

Mrsrobertduvall · 29/12/2011 18:54

I started it this morning and am hooked already.
Hopefully will finish it by Jan 1st.

PurpleDogSlippers · 29/12/2011 18:54

Treat yourself Harriet it is well worth it. I'm a bit jealous of people who haven't read it yet as they have it all to get into.

Yes, I thought it was fantastic - and have so far got at least three other people to read it Grin

It's just so engrossing and satisfying to read, and I loved that it went into all those points about time travel that other books and films (I'm looking at you, The Time Traveller's Wife) gloss over.

PurpleDogSlippers · 29/12/2011 18:56

It took me a month to read but that was because the dc kept wanting stuff Xmas Grin.

If I wasn't reading it though I was thinking about it.

It was ok, but run out of steam at the end. I find a lot of King's books since his accident limp to the finish line. That said, he is a master of story telling and fleshing out his characters. I did very much enjoy the nod back to 'It'.

PurpleDogSlippers · 29/12/2011 18:58

Brian you are right it was satisfying.
I'm hoping they don't ruin it if they make a film. I hated the Time Travellers Wife.

I found it so exciting though, I was racing through it to find out what would happen when he went back.

PurpleDogSlippers · 29/12/2011 19:00

I liked the end. Loved the IT bit also, Chickens.

Yes I was gripping the kindle at quite a few bits especially when they were trying to get into the building.

I got this for Christmas, starting it later when dd goes to bed!

Are we OK to use spoilers here? It's hard to discuss it otherwise!

PurpleDogSlippers · 29/12/2011 19:04

Brian, start a new thread and put spoilers in title and I will see you there.

I'm not a big Stephen King fan, but this one does appeal to me (what is it about JFK? He died before I was born! And still we're all fascinated by this uber-conspiracy)

So this one is on my wishlist for this year.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/01/2012 18:38

Finished it this morning - it took me longer than a new King usually would, which I think expresses some of my feelings about it. I did enjoy it but I was also a bit disappointed by it and found I could put it down for stretches of time when normally I'd just stay up all night to finish.

I thought that there was quite a lot of 'filling' in the first half of the book and I was also a bit bemused by the ending, which seemed a bit schmaltzy (sp?) to me. Loved the nods to other books, especially the glimpses of that old bitch Christine and loved the character of Deke and Mike in particular. Lots of good bits and I read several sections with my hand over my mouth (especially the race to Dallas bit) but overall, not as good as I expected, I think.

Agh just noticed there's another thread. Hope I didn't write anything that could be classed as a spoiler there. Blush
