after many years from reading i have started up again, i have asked OH for a kindle for xmas, as gives him something to buy me etc.. any way a few question?
1 - when you turn it off, then back on again does get automaticaloy go to your last page or is a matter for searching.
2 - how eay is it to download books? and is it only amazon you can buy from?
3 - how fagile are they i.e. if dropped might aswell buy another.
4 - what are they like in bright and dim light, as i know some screens on phones cant be seen in bright light.

sorry if i sound totally useless but i haven't had a play on one, so would like to know what im in for, i am only looking at the basic one around £90. then up graded if needed further down the line.

as of xmas day i will be getting a book or two downloaded which one would you reconmend for my kindle read, recently i have gone through the robert jorden (wheel of time set), another set by jean m auel, few s-king ,couple cathrine cooksons books, a few books i cant remember author (tom something) but along the lines of thriller, crime, so abit of all sorts. i dont have a tpye (i think), but haven't a clue whats in or not as not been reading long.. so let me know whats in and a must download/read. :)

thanks to all. x

  1. It does revert to your last page.
  2. Dead easy - almost instantaneous if you have 3G coverage where you are.
  3. Not that fragile at all. And if you get a case, even better.
  4. The screen's not as shiny as a phone so bright light is less of an issue. You can get covers that have built-in lights, which is helpful; otherwise, you can't read in dim light in the same way as with newspapers/books. You also have some contrast options for personalising settings.

If it does break Amazon are famously brilliant at replacing them. Even if you admit to sitting on it they'll send you a replacement. Plus all your books are archived so when you get your new kindle they'll re-download for free.
