I can't believe I've only just read something by him I picked up Rabbit Run for 20p whilst waiting for dd's to finish their dance class and some second hand books were on sale nearby.

I'm lost for words. It's magnificent (imvho). Such ordinary mundane people but so beautifully written. Is he always this good? I can't wait to read more.

I've only recently read John Updike and like you, have only read Rabbit Run. I loved it too! Am I right in thinking there are other Rabbit stories? I want to read another but I have a stack of about 50 books that I already have and should read first Blush

I think they're are 4 (could be wrong).

I keep re-reading bits of it - it's too good.

I also have a huuuge pile to readGrin. Goodness knows why I picked it up really, I'm not short of books, but so glad I did.

Updike is one of the best writers in the Books About My Cock genre, that's for sure.

BendyBob · 04/12/2011 18:35

Gosh..there's a whole genre?

They should put your review on the covers ayesmagic Grin

I read the first Rabbit one. It was more than enough.

I havent read the Rabbit ones but I have read couples and a few of his short stories.

All of the above were about people in New England having affairs. Dont get me wrong I really enjoyed Couples but after reading the short stories I began to wonder what the guys obsession was.

Are the Rabbit novels along these lines because I would like to read them
