Another vote here for case histories Mrs Spoon. And We Need to talk About Kevin. (But I don't expect many to agree with me!)

tamula · 08/01/2006 11:56

polly28 · 08/01/2006 12:02

have to say I really enjoyed Diary of an Ordinary Woman,by Margaret Forster.

Blu · 08/01/2006 12:19

Case Histories or the Rotters club, I think. and Bad Dirt, Annie Proulx.

Caribbeanqueen · 08/01/2006 12:21

Kite Runner, I thought it was brilliant.

milkbar · 08/01/2006 12:29

Cloud Atlas was fabulous, I also loved The Timetraveller's Wife

twotonetinsel · 09/01/2006 11:51

A tie between Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and Small Island by Andrea Levy.

Lonelymum · 09/01/2006 12:10

I really enjoyed This Thing of Darkness by Harry Thompson as recommended here on Mumsnet by Greenbean (so it is worth reading these recommendations!) but my favourite book of 2005 was probably Harry Potter book 5 or 6. Sorry to be so childish.

Flamesparrow · 09/01/2006 12:15

Da Vinci at the start of the year... Probably the best for me though were The Fools Trilogy by Robin Hobb... finally got to finish the set of books I started when pregnant with DD, and it was sooo satisfying to end the story!

wilbur · 09/01/2006 12:18

Another vote for Time Traveller's Wife, but also loved new Harry Potter and A Million Little Pieces.

zubb · 09/01/2006 12:34

agree with CaribbeanQueen about Kite Runner, also loved Vernon God Little when I finally got round to reading it.

zubb · 09/01/2006 12:35

oohh yes, I'd forgotten about a million little pieces, that was great as well.
