What is it about stitch?

Sugarmag · 20/01/2006 16:19

Read this ages ago but can't quite remember what it was about. I went to look for it to referesh my memory but I must have chucked in my last clear out. If you can remind me what it was about I might be able to tell you what I thought of it.

Have a friend who says that if every woman read this book we'd die out as a species cos they wouldn't have babies! Wouldn't put it quite that strongly, but is a good read...

still none the wiser to what this book is about! Feminism? Evolution?

Sugarmag · 23/01/2006 08:59

Does this help?

hi sorry havent really been spening any time on mumsnet recently. actually been doing some housework.!

its about the emergence of an upgrade on the human species. like us from neandertals, this is about women having miscarriages, then still being pregnant with the offspring of the female fetus which ovulated before miscarrying. and this newbaby being the upgrade. it could have been a great disaster book, but i felt the author was too bogged down in the politics and the science of the situation.
the upgraade happens cox of the expression of introns in the human genome. etc etc

Thanks stitch and sugar mag. Sounds interesting. Read the amazon review of it. I have a W H Smith voucher left from xmas - I'll look for it.

greenbean · 29/01/2006 16:53

Went to Smiths but they didn't have it. Ended up with some chicklit.Least I know I'll read it.

Finally got round to buying this book.
I'm enjoying the ideas of the story but it does get a bit bogged down with the science etc -like stitch said.
