This book has been sat on my bookshelf gathering dust for a while now. the size of it is just a bit daunting. Has anyone read it and enjoyed it? I need some encouragement to make a start!

cover on wiki looks interesting, but it sounds a bit daunting in size but intriguing all the same...

I might ask for it for Christmas

I did read it - after being given two copies in one Christmas... felt obliged. It is very long. I got into it in bits and pieces, I guess with any book made of of five novellas there will be bits you prefer and bits that drag a bit. It was well written and not a difficult read, just long.

Am slightly unconvinced it worked as a whole. An interesting experiment but not a page-turner, must read IMO. If you want something plot driven, probably not the book for you, maybe more like Thomas Pynchon style?

Thanks for the response Stokey. Im not too bothered about it being plot driven as long as its a good read and well written. Im always on the lookout for new authors though so will give Thomas Pynchon a try.
