Which Kindle

I am looking at a Kindle for my Birthday present but now the new one has come out I really don't know whether to get the one with a keyboard or without.

Also a couple of questions

Are they back lit? Can you read them in the dark?

I see that the original version is almost 80grams heavier and am wondering whether lighter is better.

Hmm, can't help with all your questions but will try on the others.

I have the one with a keyboard, and it's fab. None of them are backlit so they don't strain your eyes and you can get cases with built in lights for them so you can read in the dark.

My sister and I bought the new kindle for mum for Xmas, and although we've not had a play with it functionality wise, she did mention that she owns knickers weighing more than it - so I'm assuming it's VERY light! I don't know if that translates into it feeling flimsy, but my general feeling is that if you're going to carry it about, lighter is better.

if you are going to browse the net at all then get an older one, the new one has a screen keyboard which you navigate with the five way controller, which is quite faffy.

otherwise i totally love the new wee one i have, lighter, but it has a metal rim, very easy to read too.

AND the screensavers are way nicer than the ones on dd's hugely shallow comment

New one! No one I know uses the net on theirs. No it's not back lit BUT the new Kindle FIRE one is.

Oh yes and the old one looks HUGE next to the new one and cats is right the screensavers are GREAT

you can jail break the screensavers and add any image you want
