It's absolutely brilliant isn't it? I loved it.

SeeLyon · 31/10/2011 11:21

LOVED every chapter - amazing to develop such characters in( for most) a chapter

I know, and the way she links all their lives into one another. Apart from anything else it must have been a consistency nightmare Grin

thecatatemygymsuit · 31/10/2011 11:41

Yep, read this and loved it, thought it was going to be all a bit self-conscious and knowing but it was brilliant. Actually found it quite emotional!

DukesOfTripHazard · 09/03/2012 12:27

Just finished this. Terrific. Highly recommend.

Abcinthia · 09/03/2012 19:32

I feel like I'm the only person who disliked it!

MissM · 09/03/2012 22:50

Nope, I wasn't keen either. I thought it was over-rated. And the ending was a total cop-out.

joanofarchitrave · 09/03/2012 22:53

Love uv uv uvd it. I didn't think the ending was a copout - I felt profoundly uneased (?) by it.

MissM · 09/03/2012 22:56

It felt to me like she didn't know how to end it. I didn't dislike the book, I just didn't think it was as amazing as the reviews claimed.

HelloBear · 14/03/2012 19:57

I found some chapters that I loved but the overall story did not do it for me. I enjoyed it as a book of short stories rather than one long story. But thought it was really well written.

Indiestarr · 05/04/2012 23:23

I loved this one too. I thought it was self-assured and original. She's a clever writer, and cool in a way that would appeal to 30 and 40somethings.

Flugelpip · 08/04/2012 21:26

Hated it. I read it while pregnant and even the cover makes me feel sick now. Horrible characters and not that clever, I thought.

hackmum · 09/04/2012 10:07

I thought it was brilliant too. Very clever, very funny, made you work quite hard. The chapter with the PR woman and the African dictator was my favourite.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 09/04/2012 19:08

now I am struggling with this book. I am just over half way through, keep losing track of the characters, how they know each other and when each chapter is set. I find them all pretty unpleasant too, bit like in The Slap (which I also failed to finish due to general hideousness of characters).
