trying to find this book - set in india about a girls heritage...

i vaguely remeber readig the review , it could be 2 yrs ago now, and lost the pulled out scrap from paper. its possibly two stories running along side about the narrators grandmother maybe and the childs return to india for her heritage

I started reading a book at MIL's which sounds a bit like that. Am going there tomorrow so will see if I can find it and get the title.

I've just remembered, the book at MIL's is called Difficult Daughters (by Manju Kapoor).

Almost definitely not the book you are looking for but reminds me of 'Fire on the Mountain' by Anita Desai. Tis a beautiful book.
