Its Swap Week and review day Today

Hello all - suspect is going to be quiet on here today what with it being half term and all but its swap week this week so please all ping on your books to your person during the course of this week. I will be handing out stern stares to anyone who doesnt do so by the 1st of November.

And its the day to check in to say what you think about the book you had this time round. I got ESP's book - not my usual sort of thing as runs on themes that give me nightmares (something horrible happening to someone I care about) - and did infact give me nightmares half way through (but suspect that's because I was coming down with flu) - but was well written and easy to read and good to step outside of my comfort zone. Looking forward to the next one.

Enjoyed Gails book, loved the fact that it is a true story.

Haribojoe - did you have my book from Tilly this time round (one with a statue on the front) or have I got all confused with my list?

swampster · 24/10/2011 11:47
acsec · 24/10/2011 17:54

I'm halfway through my book and enjoying it. Again not something I would have chosen but love the description ad the way the stories interlink. I promise I will have it finished and posted this week!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 24/10/2011 21:56

This month I read clingingtosanity's book. I liked it- an easy read with some funny stories. One chapter In particular really tickled me Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 25/10/2011 11:01

Dinky, I sent your book to Haribojoe, I think she got it

I had Piebald's book this month and I'm really sorry but I didn't really enjoy it, I only got part-way through it Blush. I thought it looked promising, and had an interesting idea but it just didn't seem very well executed. I didn't feel any connection to any of the characters, none of them were particularly likeable or even detestable, they seemed very 2-dimensional. Sorry Blush

dinkystinky · 25/10/2011 11:24

Ah, while you're on Tilly, what would you like me to say on the envelope for your book to avoid the usual no lady of the house/book clun nonsense I scrawl on it?

tillyfernackerpants · 25/10/2011 12:51

Thanks dinky, I've sent you a message

Haribojoe · 25/10/2011 15:15

Dinky - think my pregnancy addled brain got a bit confused Blush, the book does have statue on front, and your name inside front cover so why I felt the need to say it was Gails I don't know Grin

dinkystinky · 25/10/2011 15:38

That's ok Haribojoe - was rather confused as to who Gail was and why she wasnt on my list!!

Tilly - instructions received Wink Sorry you didnt enjoy the book this time round - I found it easier to read as the book progressed. Your comment about the characters made me laugh though - I read A week in December last week and that was precisely how I felt about the characters in that book!

Calico1 · 26/10/2011 15:54

Hi - I have Kiwijester's book. I read it many, many years ago but really enjoyed the re-read, especially the first half. The second half I less interesting and it has really dated and I'd forgotten how unPC some of the language is! Still it's a classic that remains great. I'm down in Brighton for half term so won't get to a post office until Sat at the earliest.

kiwijesta · 26/10/2011 20:37

Hey all,
Am still chugging away with Haribojoe's book really getting into it now but still not finished, will make sure it's done by Monday.
Re my book, yep I agree re the dated-ness of it but I think it's a classic that I could re-read it once a year!

Calico1 · 28/10/2011 19:26

Indeed Kiwijester - and I loved the film! Oh better not give any more away....

kiwijesta · 28/10/2011 22:35

There's a film?!?! Right off to amazon it is! Grin

acsec · 28/10/2011 23:49

I'm so nearly finished - I will try to post it on tomorrow but if not then DEFINATELY Monday.

I'm finding the main female character to be rather annoying at this point in the story and am getting rather cross at her manipulation of the male protagonist!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 29/10/2011 18:50

Posted today.

swampster · 29/10/2011 23:25

Grin I was laughing out loud until severed heads and puppies started to feature. Now I can hardly bring myself to open it.

acsec · 30/10/2011 22:38

I'm posting tomorrow! Finally finished - found getting to the end a bit of a struggle.

Calico1 · 31/10/2011 08:44

Will post book this morning - sorry for delay.
kiwijester - yes, 50s film great, 80s mini series not so great Grin
