Am off on a relaxing child free holiday for a week and need some help choosing new books. Seem to have read everything by my favourite authors. I like Jodi Picoult, Diane Chamberlain. Loved One Day and Room. Didn't like The Slap. Anyone got a recomendation or 4?

Recently read Peyton Place by Grace Metalicious - written in the 50's but a great soap style novel I couldn't put down and also Rona Jaffe The best of everything about girls getting their first jobs in 50's New York.
Recently published but good was 22 Britannia Road by Amanada Hodgkinson about a polish couple in Ipswich after WW2 trying to rebuild their lives.
Slammerkin by Emma O'Donogahue the author of Room is a fabulous bawdy tale as is The Crimson Petal and the White by Michael Faber (recently dramatised by the BBC)
