Charlaine Harris - her other series?

I've just finished (and adored) the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I know Ms Harris has written other series and I wondered if anyone knows if they're any good? I'm not a huge murder mystery/crime fiction fan but I like it when it's part of the story as it is in the Stackhouse books, rather than the whole point of the book like a detective novel. And I'm a fan of fantasy, obviously.

Any pointers?

Dammit. I was hoping you were going to tell me what you thought of them. I haven't read them either and wasn't sure whether to invest in a whole new series as I'm short of money at the moment.

I loved her Sookie Stackhouse series too and mostly read paranormal and fantasy books but do sometimes take a delve into detective novels.

I'm just going to have to wait patiently with you to see if anyone else has read them

I am the same about the Sookie books, I just loved them. I just got the latest one last month and read it in a couple of days, I am always looking for something similar.

I have read the Harper Connolly series, Grave Secret etc. They were alright - very different to the Sookie books, slower moving less romance and no sex but ok. The focus was more on the murder mystery and the heroines gift of finding dead bodies and this was enough to keep me interested.

I am reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood books at the minute, I am enjoying them but their main focus is massive deadly vampires "bonding" and "mating" with their unlikely 'females" which gets a tiny bit much by the second book!

I really enjoyed Richelle Mead's Storm Queen Eugenie Markham series, probably the closest thing to Sookie I have found.

I should say the Storm Queen books are about fairies not vampires.

I've read the first in her Shakespeare series, no supernatural stuff, and really liked it. Lily Bard has been through a really bad experience and is struggling to get over it while living in a small town.

Real Murders is the first in her Aurora Teagarden series about a nosy librarian. It was ok and I have many of the others in the series to be read, some time. Along with many of the Sookie books.

I haven't read Charlaine's other stuff but have just finished the Chicagoland vampire series (so far) and omg hooked!!

Think I'll steer clear of Black Dagger, sounds hmm.... ; ) but check out the Lily Bard series and the Richelle and Chicagoland recommendations.

Oh oh oh!!! I forgot! I got some Amazon vouchers for my birthday and bought a few books and the first in the Chicagoland vampire series! Happy days . I've just finished the book I was reading too so that's going to be bumped to the top of the list.

I've read the Harper Connelly books, IMO they are way better than the Sookie books.
They are gritter, the last two in particular. I also remember a fair bit of sex in those two aswell.
They are mysteries but there is also about her ability to read the last few moments of someones life and the effect thats had on her life. In each of the books their is the story arch of her missing sister.
For me althought they still have a supernatural twist, they are more 'real' life than the sookie books.

I've read the Harper Connolly series. I really liked them and read all 4 in a matter of days because I really got into them and just had to get to the end.

I don't particularly like the Harper Connolly series, but I can't say why without spoiling it totally! Also if you read them an murder mysteries they can be a bit predictable.

I'm going to try the Lily Bard ones because the concept sounds great though.

I also liked the harper connolly series a little better than the sookie series, while enjoying both. For the same reasons as allnightlong.

I'm not into the Sookie books, but I absolutely LOVE the Harper Connelly books. I find them interesting, slightly weird but at the same time set in the real world. There are aspects of them that are amusing, thought provoking and wistful.

I've read the Sookie Stackhouse, Harper Connelly and Lily Bard books. They're all ok but in all of the series, the last couple of them go downhill.

I think with CH, her books start off great, but then she seems to get lazy. It does irritate me somewhat though I can't stop reading them

I have started Patricia Briggs's Mercy Thompson series which is quite good so far. Not a lot of sex, but there are vampires, werewolves & faeries!
