Anyone read Great House by Nicole Krauss?

I'm struggling with this a bit. I want to like it, and I can see it is well written, but it just hasn't grabbed me yet - and I'm over halfway through!

Has anyone else read it? What did you think?

I did quite like it, but it never "grabbed me" even towards the end. What appealed to you about the book? (I was trying to read more of the Orange Prize shortlist and I was intrigued by the mention of a Chilean refugee, but of course there wasn't that much about Chile in there).

I agree, I quite liked it but no more than that. I didn't like any of the characters, which never helps, and I never really felt I understood all the recurring themes in the story.
