Need a holiday book - would Girl with the Dragon Tattoo be good?

I haven't read a book for about a year but really want to sink into a fab book for a week. The last book I read and really enjoyed was Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less by Jeffrey Archer.

If you have read GWDT do you think it will be a good holiday read? Any other recommendations are welcome.

Yes but be prepared to be baffled by the sheer number of nordic names to start with.

THe last thing I particularly enjoyed was The Help. Brilliant. Thought it would be worthy and depressing but it was fun and very satisfying.

Thanks Katisha I think that your concerns re: TGWDT would stand true. The Help sounds like a brilliant read for a holiday and I like how it made you feel so many emotions.

Girl with dragon tattoo would be a great choice - I would suggest taking the other ones in the series - I got through the first two books in 1 week on holiday.

Although, this depends on how fast you read and how long you have!

I found it difficult to dive into the book, it starts a bit slow imo. But gets better and I enjoyed it.

I did all three of them on a 2 week holiday last year (plus a McColl Smith and the latest John Irving.)

Excellent book (and trilogy) but don't be put off by the slowish, difficult start. I loved these books and wanted to lock myself in my room to read them in peace away from DH and DS.

coudn't get past the beginning, maybe I should try again. My problem was that the heroine reminded me of the one in Miss Smillas Feeling for Snow, one of my favourites, and I just wanted to put it down and pick up MSFFS

I loved this book. Depending on how quickly you read you might want to take the 2nd and 3rd books with you.

I haven't read it, but i have just finished 'one day" which i really enjoyed, and I absolutely love anything by penny vincenzzi for holidays as they are fairly light but well written and nice and long so you don't finish it on day two!
